Faculty Position: Theoretical Biophysical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Michigan Tech invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for the Fall of 2017. The position is for a Physical or Biophysical Chemist with expertise in Theoretical Biomolecular Modeling focused on protein-protein interactions, protein-ligand interactions, and enzyme reaction mechanisms.  Computational research is supported by Michigan Tech’s high-performance computing cluster, Superior.

Candidates will have expertise in the development and application of molecular modeling methods including Classical Mechanics & Dynamics, Quantum Mechanics, and QM/MM-MD. She/He will teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and have excellent spoken and written communication skills.   Previous university teaching experience is expected in Physical Chemistry or Chemical Physics, with Cheminformatics considered a plus. A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics or related field is required, along with a strong record of publications and the documented ability to sustain a vigorous externally funded research program as PI/co-PI from competitive funding agencies. A demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment is a plus.
