COACh Workshop for Women Scientists in the U.S. and Africa on “Partnership Opportunities for Women in Water Education and Research (POWWER)” Windhoek, Namibia May 2015
COACh Partnership for Women in Water Education and Research (POWWER) Workshop brought together women scientists from the U.S., Namibia and several other African countries that are working on water resource and ecology issues on the continent. Being one of the driest countries in Africa, Namibia is also one of the most advanced countries in the use and reuse of water. During the days together we described our research, shared stories, developed collaborations and planned for future activities. Over the three day workshop attendees discussed the research, outreach and educational interests, developed collaborative plans and grew their network.
A huge thanks to the U.S. Department of State for sponsorship of these COACh activities in Namibia and Ms. Marlies van Velsen from the U.S. Embassy in Windhoek for her invaluable assistance.
The third day of the workshop involved an excursion to a water purification plant, an amazing facility.
NCRST COACh Career Building Workshop for Scientists in All Disciplines, Nampower Convention Center Windhoek, Namibia May 2015
In the COACh tradition of these international scientific workshops, Profs. Ellen Wohl (Colorado State University) and Geri Richmond (Oregon) conducted a series of COACh Career Building Workshops for a large group of students, faculty and researchers from the Windhoek area after the POWWER workshop. They gave a record number of 5 COACh career workshops in one day to a very receptive and engaged audience. Thanks goes to the support of the National Commission on Research Science and Technology (NCRST) (http://www.ncrst.na/) for sponsoring these workshops.
