Seeking and starting that first job as a scientist or engineer is a time of great transition and uncertainly. This workshop provides techniques necessary for an effective career launch into the job that best fits your skills and interests. This workshop module will help position you to be most effective in finding and applying for a variety of job positions, developing a tailored CV for the position and being an effective communicator in the interview whether it is by phone, web-based or in person. Additional topics include effective communication methods for teaching and research presentations, importance of network building and finding a mentor, building a strong CV and developing an professional internet presence. For groups of undergraduate and graduate students, a discussion can include applying for graduate school and fellowships.
