Benchtop-to-Business: Women as Entrepreneurs

Thinking of being an entrepreneur?  This workshop module provides an introduction to entrepreneurship including defining entrepreneurial terms and helping participants define their motivation for starting a business, their options, the scope of their ideas and gender research around entrepreneurship.  Results of the pre-workshop survey entitled the Entrepreneurial Mindset Profile provide a group exercise on characteristics that distinguish entrepreneurs and skills that are critical for success. Start-up strategies to be discussed include next steps, skills acquisition, best practices, balance/integration and finding financial support.  The workshop ends with a “Pitch Session” for participants to gain feedback on their ideas.
