Since 2011, COACh has expanded its reach globally, partnering with institutions and scientific communities in countries with developing research enterprises. Supported through grants and philanthropic contributions, COACh offers two complementary program areas: Career Empowerment Workshops and Partnership-Building Initiatives.

Career Empowerment Workshops

COACh delivers interactive professional development workshops that help scientists and engineers build the skills needed for successful and impactful careers. Topics include leadership, negotiation, entrepreneurship, publishing, proposal writing, communication, and career advancement.

Each workshop is developed collaboratively with local researchers and institutions to ensure that the content is culturally relevant and responsive to regional needs. To date, COACh has conducted more than 130 workshops across 25+ countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Organizations and conference organizers interested in hosting a workshop are encouraged to contact us.

Partnership-Building Initiatives

COACh also convenes international networks of scientists around globally important challenges, fostering collaboration, leadership, and knowledge exchange across borders.

Past initiatives have included:

  • Finding Common Ground – a series of workshops connecting geoscientists from the United States and Latin America to address natural disasters related to tectonics, hydrology, climate, and weather.

  • Southeast Asian Nutritional Neuroscience Network – bringing together researchers and health professionals from Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar to address childhood stunting and early brain development.

  • POWWER (Partnership Opportunities for Women in Water Education and Research) and Water First! – collaborative programs uniting researchers and policymakers from across Africa to advance water quality, water resources, and water policy solutions. Workshops have been held in Morocco, Namibia, Rwanda, and Ghana, with support from the U.S. State Department and the Elsevier Foundation.

Through these programs, COACh helps build international networks, strengthen scientific capacity, and connect researchers working to address some of the world's most pressing challenges.
